His passion for the music carried him across the U.S. and Canada, performing with bands in North Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, and Quebec before finding his groove in Nova Scotia. There, he joined a band alongside the legendary blues drummer Fran Christina, deepening his connection to the genre’s roots.
Over the years, John’s rhythmic talent and soulful playing have been featured in groups like the Marcotte Band, the F-Tones with Andrew Gillis, and The Classifieds. For four decades, he’s brought his unmistakable rhythm to Joe Murphy’s band. From Milton Ontario, Devins musical journey began at the age of 10 when his Uncle Bert — singer and guitarist in the popular 80s and 90s band "Chuck and the Cookies" — gave Devin the very first guitar of his own, igniting his lifelong passion for music. Under Bert Tarrants inspiration, along with the influence of Mike “Shrimp Daddy” Reid, Devin has developed a profound connection to the roots of blues. Over time, he has grown into a masterful guitarist and songwriter, crafting a sound that is as distinctive as it is soulful.
Since making Nova Scotia his home in 2018, this gifted singer and songwriter, has written and produced his own full-length album, a testament to his deep connection to melody and storytelling. Devin has graced stages with an unmistakable energy that resonates through every note he plays. Since joining Shrimp Daddy and The Sharpshooters in 2022, Devin has poured his heart into every note, channeling a rich blend of musical influences and personal experiences.
Hailing from Saint John, Frank’s musical story began alongside blues legend Big John Little, where he laid down his first basslines. With a natural knack for rhythm, he sharpened his skills with The Hill Brothers, mastering both electric and upright bass. Frank’s soulful touch and love for Delta blues found a perfect home in Red-Eyed Mojo, a trio steeped in raw, heartfelt blues traditions. He later brought his versatile bass grooves to Theresa Melanfant’s band, where his sound became a cornerstone of their performances.
When Frank joined the Navy, his music never stopped. Over 17 years of service, he formed and led ship bands, creating vibrant, morale-boosting performances for his shipmates. His bass and vocals turned every ship he served on into a floating music hall, keeping the crew energized and connected through the power of music.
After his Navy chapter came to a close, Frank returned home, ready to devote himself to family and his enduring passion for music. Joining Shrimp Daddy and the Sharpshooters, he brought with him a rich history of playing styles—Blues, Cajun, Rock, Country, and Rockabilly—all tied together by his signature groove and undeniable stage presence. Frank’s basslines are the heartbeat of the band, driving their sound with energy, soul, and years of musical wisdom.
Gary’s rhythm-filled journey began at the age of eight, when he first discovered the magic of drums. By fifteen, he was already sharing his passion for music on professional stages. At nineteen, he moved from the Annapolis Valley to Halifax to pursue photography, but the call of music was impossible to ignore.
After completing his studies, Gary dove headfirst into Halifax’s vibrant music scene, becoming a mainstay in countless bands. For an incredible 25 years, he’s been the driving force behind the grooves at the Sunday Night Blues Jam at Bearly’s House of Blues, where his dynamic drumming keeps the heart of the music beating strong.
With influences ranging from Earl Palmer to Ringo Starr, Steve Gadd, and Steve Jordan, Gary’s playing is a seamless blend of precision, soul, and creativity.
